Hey, guys.
I'm always looking for suggestions regarding the game we're making and rather than messaging me privately, I think it'd be a good idea to post them publicly so that they can be discussed. Any help is greatly appreciated!

If you have no idea what I'm on about, come on Teamspeak and I'll give you access to the pre-pre-pre-pre99r alpha version so you can have a tinker with what's available.

Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen.

As you are no doubt aware, this community in it's current state is failing to garner a sufficient amount of traffic, an issue I'm sure we all agree is a major problem. However, after several weeks of deliberation and with the help of a crack team of Social Scientists and Physicists, I am happy to announce that we have come up with not only a viable solution, but the greatest solution to ever be conceived by humankind since the Earl of Sandwich solved a dilemma effecting millions of gamblers worldwide.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the future, today:

Please... No flash photography.

I can sense that you are all very excited by this news. With this new brand title, we have potentially opened up new, wide demographic in the Americas. Something which we have failed to do widely ever since Mobius Game Servers first launched 2010. I am also very happy to announce that we will no longer just host random game servers whenever I feel like, but we will also be producing and selling our own unique brand of chili at Mobinet's House of Chili branches worldwide*. We will also endeavor to offer branded merchandise to all our fans around the globe within the coming weeks.

Thank you for your time. Please make sure to grab a sample of our delicious new chili on your way out.

*Mobinet's House of Chili brand chili is currently only available in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Zimbabwe.

A very Merry Christmas to those who are still here!

Even though these forums are on the borders of death and inactivity, I'd still like to thank those of you who still stop by occasionally, and a massive thanks to those who frequently join us on the Teamspeak server (You know who you are).

It's been a very tough year for this community, a true trial for a lot of us. And even though most have left us, what remains is a community of gamers, story-tellers and friends. I hope you all have an amazing holiday season and am looking forward to spending another year here.

Merry Christmas!

The Story
It’s been a year since you first landed on the shores of the icy region of Dunwick. With the help of others you setup many outposts, towns and farming colonies all independent of each other. But this wasn’t enough; You wanted greater integration with those around you and decided to introduce economic systems to the previously socially-devoid region. With it came a period of mass improvement; Rail systems were negotiated and built, great financial institutions founded, intensive farming discovered and new natural resources exploited. But things went too far…

…The signs were spotted early on. Massive caverns and crevices were discovered snaking underneath populated settlements, caused by major tremors. Walls fell, towers collapsed; but you ignored it all and rebuilt. Then the weather changed. Previously temperate zones became ridden with newly formed snow and ice. But still you ignored it, but to be honest no one gives a flying toss about the weather (some of us do). Other than these changes, things went reasonably well. You carried on mining and drilling and farming.

Then it happened…

It wasn’t anything at first, just another minor tremor in the middle of the night; it probably didn’t even wake you up. Then it got worse. The tremors continued, getting larger and longer each time. Castle walls cracked, houses fell, the earth parted, entire towns sank into nothing. Months of work disintegrating in front of your eyes.

The evacuation started almost immediately. Any ships in the area were called to the region and used to migrate the refugees to safety. Luckily you managed to find one of these ships and escape from the disaster aboard the SS Tweedle, a small and cramped cargo vessel; which would take you all the way to Alta City after a brief stop at Darkplace, 290 miles from where Dunwick used to be. Things were going smoothly and the journey was gentle and you were looking forward to seeing the famous city. But it wouldn’t be a good story if everything went according to plan.

We've had a map cooking for a good few months now that Dweller and I started work on and I think it's about time we launched it for the public to enjoy (whitelisted). This new iteration is very similar to the last but I hope to expand on some of the strong concepts we had, primarily a good adventure / dungeon system which I'll be releasing more information on soon. If the first month goes well and we get a strong map then we'll push the boat further and attempt to draw in a larger crowd by advertising your works. I've wiped the whitelists so we'll need to build up the members all over again. Just make a very quick whitelist application or PM me with a link to your old application.

The server will be launched sometime tomorrow. Check back here for the connection details.
SUPER COOL EDIT:
Here are a few things to consider when playing on the server:
  • We're not running on the super powerful server we had before. It was far to expensive to realistically maintain, therefore the server may lag for you.
  • No one can create nether portals! This is because of the issue presented when they were first introduced whereby nether gates would connect strangely. Instead there is currently one master gate. It is up to you to find it.
  • The entire Nether is a free PvP zone! Go there at your own peril.
  • We're no longer using a whitelist system. Instead there are two main ranks: Adventurer and Builder. When you first join the game you will be an Adventurer and thus cannot build or destroy anything, but you can explore. Please get in touch with an admin who will then proceed to promote you as long as you have a valid application. (In some cases an admin may recognise you and instantly promote you).
  • The same rules from the old server apply here. View the megathread here.
  • Remember to keep an eye on the forums for news, quests and other shizzle. If you don't you may miss out on something big.
  • As well as building, in the future you will be able to engage in quests.
  • You spawn with 3000r currency which can be converted to emeralds. If you die, you will lose some of your Rubins. It's best if you convert your fortune into emeralds for storage.]
    • You can convert currency at an ATM. There's one at Darkplace Hall and Morlorn Tower.
  • Mobs are disabled for the moment. They will be enabled in a few days.
